Your family

Physical custody determines the worksheet.

Enter annual overnights with Parent 1 for each child. Parent 2’s nights are 365 minus Parent 1’s nights. Use the worksheet’s 365-day convention.

02

Income & expenses

Use verified income and actual child-related costs.

What belongs in these fields?

Income: gross income before payroll deductions. Self-employment uses gross receipts less allowable ordinary and necessary expenses. Include qualifying bonuses, pensions and other income. Exclude means-tested benefits and another spouse’s income. Resolve irregular income or imputation with counsel.

Existing support: current support actually paid for other children; exclude arrears payments. Do not double-count children in the resident-child deduction.

Other resident children: natural or adopted children living with the parent, excluding children in this case. The deduction uses the official basic schedule at that parent’s gross monthly income.

Insurance: enter only the premium attributable to children in this case, excluding employer-paid amounts. If unverifiable, divide the premium by all covered persons and multiply by covered children in this case. The 5% reasonable-cost standard is a separate coverage question.

Child care: reasonable costs due to employment or job search. No automatic tax-credit reduction. Extraordinary expenses require a finding that they are reasonable, necessary and in the child’s best interest. The schedule already includes the first $250 per child per year of uninsured medical/dental costs.

Child benefits: qualifying Social Security/VA benefits based on this parent’s earnings record; enter monthly attributed benefits separately, without also counting them in gross income. The credit field is the portion paid to the other parent. Shared/split benefit offsets require review.

Cases requiring individual review

Above-schedule income; third-party custodians; more than six children; negative adjusted income; low combined income for B/C; special benefit offsets; deviations; separation-agreement effects; retroactive periods; imputed or disputed income.

Known source issue: one-child lookups between $43,400 and $43,500 are withheld because the published $43,450 entry decreases unexpectedly. No silent correction.
