The Judicial Branch announced adoption on October 13, 2026, following adoption on October 7. The guidelines take effect January 1, 2027 for actions heard on or after that date. “Beta” describes this software, not the legal status of the adopted guidelines.
| Parameter | 2027 implementation |
|---|---|
| Combined adjusted monthly income ceiling | $50,000 inclusive; above this, no scheduled result |
| Schedule | 969 rows × 6 child-count columns; $1,600 through $50,000 |
| Bottom income interval | $0–$1,600 → $100; interpolate from $1,600 to $1,650 |
| Self-support reserve reference | $1,330/month, per the guideline text |
| Last shaded income by children 1–6 | $2,000 / $2,500 / $2,900 / $3,200 / $3,550 / $3,900 |
| Primary physical custody | 243+ nights with one parent; Worksheet A |
| Shared physical custody | 123+ nights with each and shared financial responsibility |
| Mixed primary/shared custody | Worksheet B; all children’s overnights included |
| Shared custody multiplier | 1.5 × combined basic obligation |
| Split primary custody | Worksheet C; allocate by number of children, then income shares |
| Annual overnights | 365 × number of children, per published worksheets |
| Existing support | Current amounts actually paid; no arrears deduction |
| Other resident children | Basic schedule amount using that parent’s gross monthly income |
| Income conversions | Weekly ×52/12; biweekly ×26/12; semimonthly ×2; annual ÷12 |
| Health premium | Children’s actual attributable portion; user verifies allocation |
| Included uninsured medical / dental | First $250 per child annually already in schedule |
| Rounding | Full internal precision; displayed money to cents |
Calculation choices that matter
Primary custody: outside the shaded obligor-income range, allocate the combined basic obligation plus qualifying expenses by adjusted-income share, then subtract expenses paid directly by the noncustodial parent. Inside the shaded range, use only the obligor’s income and do not add or credit child care, insurance or extraordinary expenses.
Shared and split custody: subtract only amounts paid above that parent’s fair share (floor that expense credit at zero). Retain negative intermediate adjusted obligations, then offset the two obligations. A negative intermediate number must not be changed to zero.
Benefits: qualifying child SS/VA benefits are attributed to the parent whose earnings record generated them, with an offset when paid to the other parent. This beta supports straightforward Worksheet A offsets; B/C offsets are referred for individual review.
Other children: only natural or adopted children residing with the parent qualify for the resident-child deduction. Existing support payments for other children and the resident-child deduction must not double-count the same obligation. In a modification action, responsibility for other children alone does not justify decreasing an existing order.
No invented outcomes: above-schedule cases are not capped or extrapolated. Negative adjusted incomes, negative Worksheet A results, special benefit cases, and low combined-income B/C cases receive a review message rather than an unsupported amount.
Known official-table anomaly
On page 27, the one-child schedule entries are $3,605 at income $43,400; $3,068 at $43,450; and $3,611 at $43,500. Both the court PDF and the beta workbook contain $3,068. The decrease is anomalous, but its intended correction cannot be established from these sources. This calculator withholds lookups strictly between $43,400 and $43,500 for one child, including any other-resident-child deduction affected by that range. Exact $43,400 and $43,500 entries remain available.
AOC confirmation is needed before enabling that interval. The value is preserved in the source dataset; it is not silently changed to a guessed $3,608.
Validation results
15,370 automated assertions passed. Tests cover every schedule cell (the anomaly is expected to block), all adjacent midpoint interpolations, income conversions, low-income and custody thresholds, expense credits, attributed benefits, invalid values, income ceiling and payment direction. Independent worksheet-arithmetic comparisons and parent-swap checks ran across 1,200 seeded random scenarios within those assertions.
All 969 rows and 5,814 published schedule cells were compared between the extracted official PDF and the downloaded reference workbook; no data discrepancies were found. The first two schedule pages were visually reviewed to identify shaded ranges. A monotonicity check detected the one-child decrease.
Interactive browser checks include loading an example, switching custody arrangements, recalculating and comparing estimates. Browser validation supplements the arithmetic tests; it is not legal certification.
Tests are implementation checks, not an independent legal certification. This version supports attorney beta review of the supported scenarios; it does not resolve every unusual case.
Machine-readable test summaryIssues the calculator leaves to legal judgment
Nonrecurring income: the court may average or prorate irregular income or order a percentage of a one-time payment equivalent to the share of recurring income paid for support. The calculator does not choose the treatment automatically.
Timing: prospective support generally runs from filing; retroactive support concerns pre-filing periods; arrears arise under an entered order. This calculator does not calculate arrears, prior maintenance or historical guideline periods.
Modification: the guideline presumption uses an order entered at least three years before the motion and a difference of at least 15%, subject to the governing requirements. This is not an automatic entitlement to modification.
Low combined-income B/C: results are deliberately withheld because the 2027 text excludes the shaded self-support reserve and the linked PDF does not provide a separate unadjusted table. Authoritative clarification is needed before confidently automating those cases.
Other limits: third-party custodians, more than six children, imputed/disputed income, deviations, and unincorporated separation agreements require individual analysis. Verify current income documents, physical custody and expense eligibility before relying on an estimate.
Scenario exports contain entered facts and should be handled as case information. Inputs are processed locally in the browser; this application does not transmit them to a calculation server or use analytics scripts.
